Veteran actor Tom Alter no more | Dies at 67

Guwahati, September 30: Veteran Film and Television actor passes away at his residence last night. He was fighting against Stage IV skin cancer, which he was suffering from since last year.

President Ram Nath Kovind and PM modi offered their condolences to the actor’s family.

It must be noted that Tom Alter was awarded Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2008. Some of his famous films include Shatranj Ke Khilari (directed by Satyajit Ray), Avatar, Kranti, Bheja Fry among others. It must be noted that he had also written books that include The Longest Race, The Best in the World and Rerun at Rialto.

He was also a sports journalist and had written in publications like Sportsweek and Outlook.
