Tezpur University students receive GYTI Award from President

Tezpur, March 21: In another proud moment for the state, two students of Tezpur University were honoured with the Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award at the Festival of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Rashtrapati Bhavan on March 19.

Scholar Pallabi Das, Department of Environmental Science and Kasturi Sarmah, Department of Chemical Sciences received the award from President Ram Nath Kovind at the award ceremony of FINE.

Pallabi and Kasturi received the award for their innovation in large scale synthetic routes to manufacture nano materials that can be used as soil conditioners to increase micro nutrients availability to plants with least toxic effect.

It may be mentioned that their innovation has led to three-four fold augmentation in crop production and decreased the requirement of traditional fertilisers by eight to ten times.

The team was awarded with a project grant of Rs 15 lakh.
