Over 700 trees planted at Sohra

Shillong, August 17: Lions Club of Shillong in collaboration with the Department of Forest & Conservation, and Meehen Infratech organised a massive tree plantation at Ladmawphlang, Sohra on August 16.

Over 700 trees were planted with the help of the members of Lion’s Club of Shillong, the DFO, school students and the general public.

Chief Guest on the occasion was the MLA of Sohra constituency Gavin Miguel Mylliem. He congratulated Lions Club of Shillong for organising the massive tree plantation programme, which will not only beautify the area but would also help in preserving the environment.

Earlier, the President of the Lions Club of Shillong Lion Dilip Bose offered his welcome address and said that environment protection is of paramount importance and that the Club is committed to save and preserve environment.

Bose also reminded that the temperature has been increasing in the region and rainfall is decreasing, causing imbalance in our environment.

Dipyan Singh, Chairman of Lions Club of Shillong, assured that the Club will take every possible step to see that trees in the region increase.

DFO (T), East Khasi Hills T Wanniang was also present and supported the event by providing free samplings.
