NGT Eastern Zone Regional Conference on waste disposal and management concluded in Guwahati

Guwahati, September 11: A two-day Eastern Zone Regional Conference on waste disposal and management was organised by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) of September 09 and 10 in the city. The conference was organised at the Kalakshetra Auditorium in Guwahati.

Several resource persons gave speeches on topics related to waste disposal and management. The conference began with the welcome address of Justice SP Wangdi, Judicial Member, NGT, EZB, Kolkata. The Presidential Address was by the state CM Sarbananda Sonowal. The first technical session included talks on topics such as “Low-Cost Waste Water Treatment through Natural Biological System” whereas the second technical session had talk on “Mechanical Composting of Municipal Solid Wastes” among others. There was also a third technical session; each of the technical sessions had floor participation. Day 1 concluded with cultural programme. Day 2 included the Plenary session and Valedictory session.

Some other topics of the conference included “Disposal and Management of E-Wastes”, “Biomedical Wastes Disposal and Management”, “Biological Treatment of Waste Water” among others.
