Dibrugarh, April 09: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on April 08 flagged off a new train service between Dibrugarh and Silchar. Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain was also present at the event.
The 15944 Dibrugarh-Silchar Express shall be providing regular service from April 16 from Dibrugarh and April 17 from Silchar, improving communications between the Brahmaputra Valley and Barak Valley.
The train has AC two-tier, AC three-tier, sleeper class and general accommodations for passengers. Stoppages assigned for the train service on its journey both ways are Sivasagar Town, Mariani Junction, Lumding, New Haflong, Furkating Junction, Simaluguri Junction, Dimapur and Badarpur Junction.
Addressing the crowd at the event, CM Sonowal said that the service will bring a new era of connectivity for people of both the valleys.
Rajen Gohain said that the new train will be helpful for students studying in various educational institutions of the region along with the people of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Mizoram as well.
