Guwahati, April 29: Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today inaugurated the new secretariat building of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) in presence of CEM Tuliram Ronghang and Speaker Horen Sing Bey.
The new building has been built at a cost of Rs 18.27 crore.
Sarma also laid the foundation stone for Don Bosco Science College that is to be set up at Diphu.
To promote sports in the region, the minister also inaugurated the Diphu Sports Complex. “Sports lends muscles to our character. It’s vital for youngsters to embrace sports as they grow up” Sarma said at the ceremony.
He, along with Minister of State for Health Pijush Hazarika, also evaluated the progress of construction work of Diphu Medical College.
A rehabilitation centre for hawkers and vendors was also inaugurated in a bid to boost the local economy of the region.
