Guwahati, November 20: PADAKKHEP, A Pace of Hope announced the winners of the Namdang Stone Bridge Heritage Award 2017. The intra Guwahati Institutional Heritage Photography Competition also saw the association of the Editor, COTTONIAN 2016-17. The winners and participants were felicitated in a special programme organized at Sudmersen Hall, Cotton University on November 13. Dr Manjil Hazarika, Professor of the Department of Archaeology, Cotton University was invited as a guest to distribute the awards.
Manjil Hazarika, in his speech, encouraged the winners and participants to carry on the good work. Abichal Sharma, a student of Cotton University got the first prize.
The second prize was secured by Himangshu Kalita of Arya Vidyapeeth College and the third prize by Shuvam Sen Gupta of B Borooah College. Rahan Deka of Gauhati Commerce College and Rituraj Chakraborty of Cotton University got the Special Appreciation Award.
The motto of the Heritage Award is to introduce Namdang Stone Bridge to the world and to make others realise and feel the importance of its protection and promotion. The theme of the competition “Guwahati Heritage Site” was introduced as an attempt to identify the past glory of Guwahati and our responsibility for its preservation. Mrinmoy Buragohain, founder of Cotton College Photography Club, was invited to select the best photographs.
