Meghalaya | Commissioning of EVMs, Mock Poll conclude at Ampati

Shillong, February 21: The commissioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the general elections to the three Assembly constituencies in South West Garo Hills was carried out in the newly constructed Strong Room building premises at Ampati in the past two days.

Altogether 179 controlling units (CUs), 180 Balloting Units (BUs) and 172 VVPATs were commissioned by Sector Officers for use, during the polls on February, in presence of District Election Officer CVD Diengdoh, Returning Officers HDB Sangma and DDShira, other district election officials and representatives of recognized political parties, candidates and their agents. During the two day commissioning of EVMs, mock poll was carried out on nine out of the total number of EVMs.

Meanwhile, the last and final round of training for polling personnel on the conduct of poll and poll procedures will be held in the next three days beginning from Thursday.
