Guwahati, April 14: Boxer from Manipur, MC Mary Kom, has made the region and country proud once again. The boxer bagged her first gold at the Commonwealth Games on Saturday.
Mary Kom won gold in women’s 45-48 kg category at the ongoing Commonwealth Games at gold Coast, Australia, which is India’s 18th gold at the event.
The five-time world champion beat Ireland’s Kristina O’Hara to claim her first Commonwealth gold.
It may be mentioned that this year’s Commonwealth Games was Mary Kom’s maiden. She had also won gold at the Asian Championships five months ago.
Mary Kom has dedicated her gold medal to her three sons.
