Shillong, October 28: The closing ceremony celebrations of St Francis Institute at Mawkasing were attended yesterday by Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul M Sangma as the Chief Guest, who congratulated the Congregation of the Missionary Brothers of St Francis of Assisi (CMSF) for having served the region for 25 glorious years.
St Francis Institute was established in 1992 at Mawkasing and is currently running St Francis D Assisi Higher Secondary School, St Francis Boys’ Home and the St Francis Holistic Healing Centre (Alternative & Indigenous Medicine) and Dispensary.
The CM stated that Meghalaya has seen fast transformative changes in the socio-economic landscape and added that the agenda of the government is to reach out to all stakeholders in the crucial social sector of Education in imparting quality education to empower the youth.
“As people of Meghalaya, we must understand the strength of education and leverage upon the name and fame of Shillong as a centre of education” he added. He urged the youth to insulate themselves from the pulls and pushes of the challenges that confront them in daily lives, and contribute to the growth and development of the state and the nation as a whole.
Earlier, the CM also inaugurated the building to commemorate the Silver Jubilee in the school premises.
