Shillong, November 14: Meghalaya Minister for Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, HDR Lyngdoh yesterday inaugurated the Livestock Development Centre at Krang Veterinary Dispensary, East Khasi Hills District. The inaugural function was also attended by Dr B Rijal, Director, AH & Veterinary Department, BK Sohliya, OSD, Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneurship, Dr KK Kharmihpen, Joint Director, AH & Veterinary Department and L Stepwar, President, Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong, Krang village.
The function was organized by the office of the District Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Officer, East Khasi Hills District in collaboration with Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneur.
In his inaugural speech, Lyngdoh informed the gathering that the Livestock Development Centre (LDC) is the first of its kind in the state. He added that more LDCs are on the pipeline for entire Meghalaya. He also lauded the effort of the District AH & Veterinary Officer and the Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneur for their untiring work and dedication towards the upliftment of the farmers. “The government is concerned by the huge gap of demand and supply. The objective of the mission is also to ensure that the state becomes a surplus state in terms of meat production by having the right kind of investment” he added.
