Guwahati, July 07: JBF (India) Trust, commonly known as JBF (Just Be Friendly), an animal welfare organisation observed World Zoonoses Day on July 06 by organising a street play to highlight the sufferings of stray dogs, and spread awareness to stop animal abuse.
The play was held at the Regional Science Centre, Khanapara and Roodraksh Mall, Bhangagarh.
The play was performed by a group of interns from NERIM, Guwahati.
The play titled “Human Behaviour Towards Stray Dogs”, revolved around the theme of how the street dogs are treated by human beings in contrast to the treatment of pet dogs. It aimed to create and spread awareness among the populace about the discriminatory behaviour of human beings towards street dogs.
Leaflets were also distributed to make people aware about Zoonoses. Public opinion was also sought at the end of the play.
JBF, in association with Hiyaas Clinic and Surgical Centre for Pets, provided free anti rabies vaccination and free health check-up and interacted with the pet owners to discuss the ways to avoid zoonotic diseases.
“Practicing good personal hygiene and caring for the health of animals should be our prime role as a human” said Dr Sashanka Sekhar Dutta, Founder of JBF.
