Guwahati, October 08: As a part of ‘Community Connect’ programme, Guwahati City FC (GCFC) has handed over tickets of ongoing U-17 World Cup to 20 kids in the state.
“U-17 World Cup is a milestone for Indian football and watching the future stars in action is once in a lifetime experience for kids” said club director Kaustab Chakraborty in a statement. “GCFC believes that our youngsters must not be deprived of opportunity to watch the matches in stadium for any kind of hindrance, as it could be their inspiration to increase knowledge and passion for the game” he added. With this objective, 20 kids from SOS children village of Guwahati and Hojai were selected to watch first two U-17 World Cup league matches initially. GCFC plans to continue this initiative in coming days, said Kaustab Chakraborty.
Director of SOS Guwahati, Azara, Subodh Das praised the initiative and expressed hope that the club will continue the community connect programme for betterment of the game as well as the society. The Vice President of All India Football Federation (AIFF) and Managing Director of Shillong Lajong FC, Larsing Ming Swayan has also welcomed the initiative of GCFC and said that such initiative helps in building a bridge between the society and a football club which is very important for the development of the game.
