Guwahati, March 10: Former Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi on March 09 forwarded a memorandum received from the Homeopathic Medical College Students Union regarding various issues including lack of faculty, poor infrastructure unemployment of passed out students among others, to the present CM of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal.
The former CM has asked his successor to look into the demands of the students.
It must be noted that the students of Homeopathic Medical Colleges across the state have been protesting, demanding proper infrastructure for the institutions and employment for passed out students of Homeopathic Sciences.
“It is most unfortunate that in spite of the genuine grievances from the students of Homeopathy and agitating in a democratic and peaceful manner to draw the attention of the Government, instead of hearing the grievances of these students, they were subjected to brutal lathi charge, all sorts of atrocities by the Police as they have been trying best to suppress the democratic movement. I strongly condemned the attitude of the Assam Govt and the brutality of the Police. There should be a thorough inquiry on the atrocities violating democratic and human rights” the former Chief Minister tweeted today.
It must be noted that the students who were recently involved in the protests in Guwahati were lathicharged by the Police while protesting.
