Death of new born babies not due to wrong treatment or failure, says FAAMCH Principal

Barpeta, October 06: The Principal cum Chief Superintendent of FAAMCH has informed the media as well as the public, in a press release, that all the new born babies that died on October 04 and October 06 were either low birth weight or admitted to the hospital in a very late critical condition. Also, few mothers were seriously ill to while being admitted and even after special efforts were taken by the Special Care Newborn Unit (SNCU or Sick Newborn Care Unit), the babies could not be saved, he added in the press release. He also said that FAAMCH is sufficient in terms of doctors, staff and equipments to cater to its patients.

It must be noted that a team of doctors from NHM, Executive Director, NHM, Director and Additional Director of Medical Education, Assam visited the medical college and studied the situation. An expert team of doctors have also been called from GMCH.

Also, two doctors from the O&G (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) Department of the Gauhati Medical College namely Dr Pankaj Lahkar and Dr Trinayan Mili have been temporarily attached in the O&G Department of FAAMCH. An order has been issued by the Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Govt. of Assam.
