Guwahati, September 17: Priyanka Nayak, a student of Cotton University, who is presently pursuing her Masters in Assamese has made the state proud by becoming the only girl from Northeast India to be among the 12 cadets selected, who will be representing India in the International Cadet Exchange Programme in Sri Lanka.
Hailing from Singimari in Hajo, she joined the NCC in June 2015 when she was a student of BA 3rd semester. It must be noted that she was selected and had attended the Republic Day Camp this year. She is a cadet of the 50 Assam Air Sqn (Flg) NCC.
A total of five cadets were selected from the northeastern region for the international camp; two male cadets from Shillong, one male cadet from Guwahati and Dibrugarh each, and Priyanka, the only female cadet from the Northeast. “The selection process comprises of a written exam, after which a GD is conducted. The process is similar to that of SSB. There is also an individual drill competition. The overall marks are added in the end. And finally, there is a PI with the ADG. The written exam is the toughest part” says Priyanka in a rendezvous with Team UniTreed. She will leave for Delhi on October 6 for a 10-day training and then to Sri Lanka on October 16.
The selected cadets are going as Youth Ambassadors and shall interact with the President, Prime Minister, Chief of Army and Air Force of Sri Lanka among other top officials.
