Guwahati, September 24: Eminent director, actor, producer and writer from Assam Abdul Majid passed away today at the age of 86. Best known for his film ‘Chameli Memsaab’ (Direction), he also acted in several TV serials and theatre. He was suffering from prolonged illness.
Born in 1931 in Jorhat, he started his career as an actor (acting in several dramas) and made his film debut in ‘Ronga Police’. He also directed the Assamese Television serial ‘Naamghoria’.
Former CM Tarun Gogoi and P K Mahanta, BJP MLA Siddhartha Bhattacharya among others have expressed grief on his demise.
