Assam’s ‘Village Rockstars’ shines in Greece

Guwahati, December 10: The grand march for Assamese Film ‘Village Rockstars’ is not ending soon. Directed by Rima Das, it had become the first film from the Northeast to go to the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). And now, Greece has welcomed Village Rockstars with three awards at the 20th Olympia International Film Festival for Children & Young people, Pyrgos, Greece.

The awards achieved by the film include:

  • Best Actress – Bhanita Das
  • Best Director – Rima Das
  • Best Special Jury Prize (Feature Film)

“I am immensely pleased to achieve this international recognition and first grand sweep. Love you cast, crew and everybody. Your thoughts and blessing keeps us going” said Director Rima Das in a Facebook post.

‘Village Rockstars’ is about a 10-year-old girl living in a remote village in Northeast India and her fight against stereotypes and poverty to pursue her dream of owning a guitar and forming a rock band.
