Assam’s new Volvo B11Rs not to ply on roads soon

Guwahati, December 13: It has been around 40 days that the Volvo B11R buses reached ISBT, Guwahati, Assam. The buses were introduced under PPP model between Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC), Assam and Dadwal Transporters, Punjab.

There was a hype among bus fans, passengers and the public as well that the luxury buses would ply on the roads of Assam, though nobody was certain about the route.

According to sources, as per the deal between ASTC and Dadwal Transporters, ASTC has to pay an amount of Rs 25 per kilometre to Dadwal Transporters when the vehicles ply on road; whatever remains from fare collection after that shall be ASTC’s share. ASTC will have to pay the amount even if the collection is less than the decided amount. Staff of the buses shall be combined of both ASTC and Dadwal Transporters. After talking to a few drivers, it came to light that due to some setbacks in these formalities the buses are not being able to ply on road. The routes are still unknown to us.

Once the authorities overcome the issues, the buses shall ply on assigned/to be assigned routes.

It must also be noted that the buses have been registered in AS 01 JC series, unlike AS 20 series which is exclusively for ASTC buses.

We, at Team UniTreed, hope that the buses provide service soon.
