Assam Society of Bangalore organises Freshers

Bangalore, August 28: Assam Society of Bangalore, established in 1982, organised Freshers 2017 for the first year UG and PG student studying in different institutions across Bengaluru. More than 80 students graced their presence in the freshers which was held at Gams Delicacy, 7th Block, Koramangla, Bengaluru. Gams Delicacy was the hospitality partner of the event.

The event started with a welcome note by Risha of ASOB, followed by introduction to ASOB by its General Secretary, Hirak Jyoti , followed by introduction session by the freshers. Mr and Miss Freshers was also organised in which Ashis Kashyap of Christ University bagged the title of Mr Freshers whereas Bandana Das of Mount Carmel College clinched the Miss Freshers title.

There was a cultural programme organised where the freshers witnessed different songs. “It felt like I was in my home. After a long time I heard crowds talking in ASSAMESE. ASSAMESE was in the air.” said Serene, first year UG student. On asking about their experience in the freshers, everyone shared positive response.

Talking to UniTreed, GS of ASOB Hirak Jyoti said “We got amazing response from the freshers. Everyone has a talent and we at ASOB want them to express the same”. He also urged freshers to come and witness the 5th Durga Puja celebration which will start on September 25 in HSR Layout, Bengaluru. ASOB President Sumeru Kakati gave the vote of thanks.

ASOB is a non-government, non-political and a Socio-cultural organization with the aim of building up unity and integrity among the people from Assam in Bangalore, with an effort of uplifting the rich Assamese culture and building co-ordination between the people of Karnataka and Assam in Bangalore.

Recently, ASOB had also conducted a flood donation drive in Sonitpur district with the help of WE DO, an NGO based in Tezpur.
