Assam Rifles lightens up interior Manipur village

Imphal, April 24: The Assam Rifles unit of 28 Sector operationalised a 5 KVA Solar Power Plant at Sehlon village in Chandel district of Manipur, thereby ensuring electricity to at least 26 houses of the village.

A statement issued by the Assam Rifles said that the village, which is situated near the Manipur-Myanmar border, has been provided with electricity for the first time since independence.

The village was provided power supply previously from a generator, the statement added.

Cadres also distributed solar lamps to the locals of Tuaitengmun and Songphumun villages of Jiribam sub sector.
