All Assam Indigenous Games Festival kick starts in Guwahati

Guwahati, April 11: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on April 10 inaugurated the All Assam Indigenous Games Festival at Nehru Stadium, Guwahati.

The three-day long festival is being organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare and will showcase several traditional and indigenous games of Assam like Tang Guti, Rosi Tona, Kori Khel, Athengia Dour among others.

During the inaugural ceremony, the CM said “The festival, which will be held in various districts of Assam, aims to preserve and promote the rich values and tradition passed to us by our forefathers”. “I urge all to get involved with these games as they promote unity and brotherhood in the society” Sonowal added.

Around 900 players from across 33 districts shall participate in the event.
