Guwahati, February 22: The Assam Government has put the tractor distribution scheme and related processes on hold temporarily across the state, due to discrepancies that have been occurring in the same. Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, in a reply to BJP MLA Ashok Sarma, in the assembly said that there were discrepancies in the distribution process and the Chief Minister had accordingly formed a committee to look into the matter.

The committee has already submitted its recommendations and amendments are being made on the scheme accordingly. Bora also admitted that some farmers were being forced to purchase tractors of a particular brand; he also assured to look into the matter.
It must be noted that 25,007 applications were received by the Government for subsidies under the Chief Minister Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yojana (CMSGUY).
