Assam to get Rs 480.87 crore central assistance

Guwahati, May 15: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a meeting of the High Level Committee (HLC) for allotting central assistance to the states/UTs of Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Lakshadweep and Rajasthan, that were affected by natural calamities.

The HLC approved assistance of Rs 480.87 crore for Assam.

The HLC also approved assistance from the NDRF amounting to Rs 84.60 crore for the state of Himachal Pradesh, Rs 67.40 crore Sikkim, Rs 2.16 crore for Lakshadweep and Rs 526.14 crore for Rajasthan.

The total assistance approved is Rs 1,161.17 crore.

It may be mentioned here that Assam was affected by floods during 2017-18, Himachal Pradesh was affected by flood and landslides during 2017-18, Sikkim was affected by floods and landslides during 2017-18, Lakshadweep was affected by cyclone Ockhi in 2017 and Rajasthan was affected by kharif drought in 2017.
