Guwahati, April 06: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on April 05 laid the foundation stones of six developmental schemes along with distributing cheques to the beneficiaries under the Kanaklata Mahila Sabalikaran Asoni at Dhakuakhana.
The CM laid the foundation stone of roads at Dhakuakhana, under the Central Road Fund, to improve connectivity in the region. He also laid the foundation stone of a circuit house at Dhakuakhana.
Addressing the gathering, the CM also informed that the government has also decided to set up a Medical College in Lakhimpur, an Engineering College in Dhemaji, a Centre for Indian Council of Agricultural Research at Gogamukh, a Cultural University at Majuli, a Sports University at Chabua, Dr Bhupen Hazarika Sammanaya Kshetra at Sadiya and a Cancer Hospital in Lakhimpur.
He also said that the new Bogibeel Bridge will revolutionise connectivity between the North and South banks of the Brahmaputra.
MP Pradan Barua, MLA Debananda Hazarika, Chief Executive Member of Mising Autonomous Council Sunil Pegu and a host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
