48-hour Assam Bandh called for on July 23

Guwahati, July 22: The All Tai Ahom Students Union (ATASU) has called for a 48-hour Assam Bandh on July 23 and 24.

This comes after talks between the centre and representatives of six communities from Assam failed to bear any fruit on their demand of granting ST status to the Moran, Matak, Tai Ahom, Koch Rajbongshi, Sootea and Tea Tribe communities of the state.

It may mentioned here that a Chaka Bandh was also called for on July 20 for the same cause.

Update: No Bandh on 24th July.
