2nd Guwahati Film Festival begins on March 02

Guwahati, March 03: The second edition of the Guwahati Film Festival began at Jyoti Chitraban premises in the city on March 02, where over 77 film works are scheduled for screening for the film appreciators. Organized by Chalachitram, the three-day festival will also incorporate movie related discussions and award ceremonies.

The inaugural ceremony was addressed by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s senior prachar pramukh Dr Manmohan Vaidya, award winning Assamese filmmaker Dr Santwana Bardoloi, senior radio artist Nayan Prasad, journalist Nava Thakuria where distinguished personalities including Pramod Kalita, Pabitra Margherita, Monita Borgohain, Utpal Datta, Bhagabat Pritam Datta, Basistha Bujarbarua, Amarjyoti Deka, Babita Sarma were present among others.

Soon after the brief inaugural program, Om Rout’s acclaimed movie ‘Lokmanya-Ek Yugpurush‘ was screened. Some other films listed for screening include Rearing Eri with Traditional Values (directed by Hemprokash Mout), Happy Birthday Joy (Arunjit Borah), Ahmedabad’s Bene Israel (Pooshan Agnihotri), Tropical Malady (Suraj Kumar Duwarah), Liakat – It rains in the end (Monjul Boruah), Megh – The Cloud (Kripal Kalita), Takkuti – A Relentless Journey ( Dr Kripanath Pegu), Bathou Open the Door (Anubhav Mahanta), Nasty Woman (Ileka Ruwanpathirana), The Tea (HA Gayan Madhushanka), Vaishali (Prachi Sharma), Ruchi Bhedham (Teertha Mythry), Kodesian (Pradeep Nair), Gaur Hari Dastan (Ananta Mahadevan) among others.

There will also be a special screening of Ananda Ram Baruah (produced by ABILAC and directed by Amalesh Dasgupta and Dr Swapan Saha) and homage to be paid to five decades of Dr Bezbaruah (directed by Brajen Baruah). The curtain will be down on Sunday, where State Cultural Minister Naba Doley and actor turned legislator Angoorlata Deka are expected to attend the closing ceremony.
