Youth For Change pleads for a cleaner and better Tezpur

Tezpur, April 23: A group of young people from Tezpur, who call themselves Youth For Change and loves their city, have started an online campaign on pleading for a cleaner and better Tezpur.

It may be mentioned here that in the year 2016, the city of Tezpur was declared India’s lest polluted city by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Unfortunately, things have changed after 2016 and Tezpur town has become a dumping ground for garbage. The Tezpur Municipality Corporation has allegedly failed to install dustbins at the wards and the concrete bins that were constructed are not cleared in a regular basis.

A private organisation called Radiant Skills and Environmental Solutions Pvt. Ltd. has entered into collaboration with the Municipality Corporation of Tezpur and has taken the responsibility of collecting door-to-door garbage from the different municipal wards of Tezpur and recycle them at their industry, which is located near Morabharali. However, the company has not been carrying out the activities; the recycling plant is also lying non-functional and the bank of the Morabharali has turned into permanent dumping ground.

The Municipal Corporation also seems to have done little to monitor the work of this company, alleges the members of Youth For Change.

This not only harming the environment of Tezpur but is also fatal to the health of the citizens and the biodiversity of the town, they add while requesting concerned citizens to sign the petition and urged upon the District Administration to take the necessary action.

“We need the support of the people in this campaign so that we can approach the Deputy Commissioner and submit the petition. Only the support of the people can help us convince the administration” says a member of Youth For Change.

Help them achieve their goal and make the beautiful city of Tezpur cleaner and better.
