Transforming Coconut wastes wins Jorhat Entrepreneur Naturenomics Award

Jorhat, November 18: Making the whole region proud, Sagir Ahmed from Jorhat has recently won the Balipara Foundation Naturenomics Award, along with other winners from various regions of the country, for his never ending and amazing work in the field of Green Entrepreneurship.

Sagir Ahmed started working on coconut crafts as a hobby. He was an electrical contractor by profession but soon changed lines after his hobby turned into his new profession. He transforms waste coconut shells into beautiful art pieces such as home decor and jewellery. His craft has helped create awareness on the use of coconut waste and also helped many earn a steady income from it. He has been awarded for his innovation to recycle and reuse a waste product for art.

It must be noted that the Balipara Foundation has been highlighting and investing in the efforts of social entrepreneurs who are working to create social, economic and environmental impact in restoring the beauty of the Eastern Himalayas. The Balipara Foundation Awards recognises the efforts visionaries who have been working for the same.
