The official trailer of the first full-length Assamese feature film on witch hunting problem AEI MAATITE was launched this Monday at the Guwahati Press Club. The film is releasing on 6th October 2017 in all major cinemas across Assam and North East. The trailer released by veteran film and theatre actor Mr. Anil Das, senior actor and Director of Centre for Inclusive Development in Tezpur University Dr. Rajeev Doley, popular actor and lyricist Mr. Sasanka Samir and the Director of AEI MAATITE Dr. Sitanath Lahkar.
Releasing the Trailer, Dr. Sitanath Lahkar said: “With the launch of the Official Trailer, we have achieved another milestone today. It is a matter of joy to launch the Trailer for the movie lovers. We had launched the Official Teaser in March and received very good response from cross section of the society. We hope that movie enthusiasts will love the Trailer much more and will come to the theatres to watch AEI MAATITE on 6th October this year.”
The Story, Screenplay, Dialogues and Lyrics have also been penned by Dr. Lahkar, a retired Principal of Cotton College.
Commenting on the film and his association, Mr.Anil Das said: “I congratulate Dr. Lahkar for making his first film on such an important social problem. The film has come out very well and a glimpse can be seen in the trailer. We hope that people of Assam will appreciate the film and will come in big numbers to watch it.”
The film cinematically showcases some of the inhuman killings in the name of witch hunting. During making of the film, Tezpur University extended very crucial support in terms of shooting space and providing the editing studio. AEI MAATITE was edited by Dr. A. Nagraj, a former Assistant Professor in Mass Communication and Journalism Department of the University. The film’s third unit cinematographer Amlan Kishor Hazarika was from the University. Besides Dr. Doley, famous poet and former Tezpur University Pro-VC Dr. Amarjyoti Choudhury also acted in a very important role.
Popular actor Mr.Sasanka Samir said: “AEI MAATITE is an artistic protest against the burning problem of witch hunting by a group of socially conscious and culturally active people, who moved ahead under the guidance of Sitanath Lahkar Sir. It is also an attempt to create awareness against the deadly evil.” “As a learner of art and culture, I am very happy and proud to be associated with AEI MAATITE. I will ever be grateful to Lahkar Sir for considering me worth of the project, which fulfilled my dream to work in a film with a good story. We will be happy if people of Assam watch this film and appreciate our effort” he added.
